We have finally finished our 'Reverse Snowday' stories! I am so proud of the perseverance shown by all the students as they wrote their 5 paragraph piece of work. They had to include an introduction, three main ideas and a conclusion. Their work also had to show good use of transition words. Each and every story turned out really well. I think we all know what to do if we ever get snowed in at school! I also think the teachers have been busted. All the students seem to know about the secret stash of popcorn that we have hidden in the third cupboard on the right in the staffroom;) We had a lot of fun with this piece of writing.
In math/art, we drew out our multiplication flowers. Drawing the times tables out allowed us to slow down and spot patterns we had not noticed before. A lot of students independently noticed that the answers to the times tables can be reached by skip counting! Now they realize why we do so much skip counting in class:) We also had lots of fun multiplying huge numbers by 0! We learned a multiplication game, which is kind of like 'rock, scissors, stone.' Ask me for a game!
In science we learned about the importance of conducting fair tests. We learned first hand what happens if the test is not fair. Ask me what writing tool I used and what others used. Ask me if it was fair! if it was not, why was it not fair?
