Our Magnificent Boxes are almost ready! Part of the box
building process was to think about Design Thinking Mindsets. We concentrated
on thinking about the mindset of ‘optimism’.
We had lots of discussions about what optimism looks and
feels like. We came up with alternate phrases, such as ‘thinking positively.’
Maybe you can think of some more at home. We certainly had to practice being
optimistic when parts of our boxes did not work as planned!
In our journals we learned how to draw 3D rectangular prisms
to show what our original box looked like.
In writing we have been trying to add lots of detail and description. We tried to describe both the outside and the inside of the box so that you could picture it even if you could not see the box. Having the prompts, ‘tell me more’ and ‘can you add more detail?’ has helped us.
We hope you really enjoy the boxes!
In reading we have been building up our reading stamina and
can now read for longer without losing concentration. We have also been
practicing partner reading.
In math we have been revising concepts such as number,
digits, greater than, less than. We have been playing games with our shaker
dice to help us gain automaticity with finding the make ten number. For
example, if the die shows 2 then the make ten number is 8.
